At Nala we appreciate how important attracting young and fresh talent into our business is.
Alongside the more experienced members of the team, many of whom have been with us from the early days, bringing new people with bright ideas on board is essential.
Whether that is a young person coming to us from college to undertake an apprenticeship or trainee placement, or someone who has perhaps worked in another industry but is looking for a new challenge, at Nala every new addition is given the opportunity to flourish.
Working with our electrical apprenticeship provider JTL, we recently added three new apprentices to the team, who are learning the ropes under the guidance of some of the more senior members of the Nala family.
Mark, Jaxson and Billy have real potential and we’ve made it clear to them that if they prove themselves during their apprenticeships, there will be a job there at the end for them.
Mark started in September 2017 and is due to qualify this year having made excellent progress through his apprenticeship both on site and at Gateshead College. It hopefully won’t be long before the colleges re open to allow him to take his final assessments.
Jaxson started in September 2018 and is undertaking a four-year apprenticeship through Gateshead College to enable him to gain a C&G Level 3 electrotechnical qualification. This, along with on-site training for the four-year-duration, will allow him to qualify as an electrician.
Billy started in September 2019 and is undertaking the same apprenticeship as both Mark and Jaxson. His college studies at Gateshead College have been impacted because of the coronavirus pandemic but it is hoped that he will start his second year later this month. He recently managed to complete his first year through a mix of online learning and assessments set from the college.
Electrician Johnathan is testament to our commitment to investing in those people who come into the business in a learning position after gaining experience in other environments. Johnathan joined us as an adult trainee, having worked for other companies in the industry for 20 years, and thanks to being fast-tracked through some of his site assessments, recently completed all his exams and qualified as an electrician.
It’s important to stress that while the current climate remains tough for businesses, our commitment to our talent attraction remains as strong as ever.
The future of our business lies with the young people we bring in, and if they can learn from our most experienced personnel, Nala Engineers will be in a good place to continue to grow over the coming months and years.
